John Chowning, inventor of FM synthesis and founder of the Centre for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA) at Stanford University visits, en route from Vallon (for the Chauvet Cave project) via Marseille back to Stanford. John meets with members of the COSMOS team, and with Sciences and Technologies of Music and Sound (STMS) Lab Director Brigitte d’Andrea-Novel and co-Director Jean-Louis Giavitto at l’Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustiques/Musique (IRCAM). Lunch with mathematician and Stanford alumna, Marie Farge, is joined by Hugues Vinet, Director of Research and Development at IRCAM.
