Haydn’s Stolen Rhythm by Cheryl Frances-Hoad

On the COSMOS YouTube channel, Cheryl Frances-Hoad’s piece based on the rhythms of Haydn’s Sonate in Es, Hob XVI:45, mvt III: Finale, Allegro di molto. New notes, sometimes quoting from Haydn’s sonata movement, are assigned to Haydn’s original rhythm, which remains almost entirely intact.

Next, the original Haydn sonata movement, an interpretation after playing Cheryl Frances-Hoad’s work on Haydn’s rhythm. The expressive gestures such as the articulations and pauses are shaped, in part, by performing Cheryl Frances-Hoad’s piece.
