Swati Meherishi, Editorial Director at Springer Nature, leads workshop on Scientific Writing

Workshop will take place 2:30-4pm on Friday 11th September, in the large seminar room in Becket House 5th floor (1 Lambeth Palace Rd, London SE1 7EU).

The workshop that will aim to incorporate topics from both the Scientific Writing and the Research Integrity options (key topics below) :

Scientific Writing 

  1. Research Methodology
  2. Paper Structure and storytelling
  3. Journal Selection
  4. Publication ethics (including brief mention of generative AI)

Research Integrity

  1. Plagiarism and Reuse
  2. Handling data
  3. Peer review ethic
  4. Generative AI (brief)
  5. Research Ethics

Those in attendance will be able to ask questions about different aspects of the publishing process directly and consult an industry expert.

Bio of Speaker

Swati Meherishi is Editorial Director at Springer Nature, leading the Applied Sciences and Engineering books program in the Asia Pacific since January 2019. Previously, she played a key role in developing Springer’s physical sciences books and journals program in the Indian Subcontinent. Swati managed a large portfolio of Springer-owned and academic society journals, receiving a special contribution award from the Indian Institute of Metals for her work on their flagship journal. Her Springer book portfolio covers all domains of engineering and applied science, including successful partnerships with prestigious organizations. Swati holds degrees in Physics and Philosophy from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, and has extensive experience in engineering publishing across two continents. She is a member of MRS, IEEE, and AIChE, and teaches technical communications courses at the IITs. Swati is involved in various initiatives, including diversity and inclusion, engineering education, and women in engineering and STM. She also serves on the global Sustainable Goals Steering Group at Springer Nature and the Finals Jury for the Falling Walls Lab competition in Berlin since 2022.
