Burroughs Wellcome Fund ENFOLD Sci-Art NEXUS 2025 : Concept Workshopping

Elaine Chew participates (remotely) in workshopping concepts of the six finalists of the ENFOLD Sci-Art NEXUS on 3-4 December 2025 at the campus of the Burroughs Wellcome Fund in Durham, North Carolina, USA. The ENFOLD Sci-Art NEXUS is the brainchild of Daniel Jay, fine artist and Professor Emeritus and Dean Emeritus of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at Tufts University.

The artist-scientist(s) teams were selected based on their applications describing “a concept addressing the unmet need of the scientific question; their innovative idea and how it will be enacted; how it came about by the artist talking to the scientist; why they are the right team to do this; what is the expected outcome and the impact of its success.”

Elaine joins an August group of reviewers comprising of Jim Crowe, Director of the Vanderbilt Vaccine Center; Michael Gorman, the Mark R. Epstein Director of the MIT Museum and Professor of the Practice of Science, Technology, and Society at MIT; J.D. Talasek, Director of Cultural Programs at the National Academy of Sciences and editor-in-chief of Leonardo; Kari Nadeau, John Rock Professor of Climate and Population Studies and Director of Harvard Chan C-CHANGE; and, Victoria Vesna, Founding Director of the Art-Science Program at UCLA.
